Accompanied by a high level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials and a representative business delegation, Prime Minister Erdogan visited Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
On the second-leg of his two day official visit to Pakistan, Prime Minister Erdogan arrived in Islamabad today. Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid received the Turkish Prime Minister at the airport. An impressive welcoming ceremony followed by Guard of Honour was arranged at the Prime Minister’s House for the honourable guest.
In Islamabad, Prime Minister Erdogan called on President Mamnoon Hussain who hosted a lunch for the valued guest, his family and members of his delegation.
Prime Minister Erdogan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held exclusive one-on-one meeting. The exclusive talks were followed by in-depth delegation level talks
. Both leaders placed greater focus on further strengthening their ties especially in the economic and commercial domains. The two Prime Ministers agreed to conclude Pakistan-Turkey Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) by the first quarter of 2014.
Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to provide a dynamic, future orientated outlook to their strategic relationship. The two leaders also emphasized on the speedy implementation of the common economic agenda within the framework of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) for the welfare of the people of two brotherly countries.
Prime Minister Erdogan extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif which was graciously accepted.
