Pakistan Cultural Week- Colourful Truck Art Activity concludes in Ankara

ANKARA, 30 March 2012:  One of the most attractive and colourful activities of Pakistan Cultural Week, truck art demonstration, concluded here today with a ceremony. Winner of many car rallies in Turkey and outside Turkey, Ms Burcu Çetinkaya was the guest of honour at the ceremony.
The extraordinary tradition of decorating trucks and buses with its all colorful floral patterns and intricate designs is truly a part of Pakistani transport tradition. The Pakistani truck art has been displayed in many parts of the World.

The Embassy of Pakistan in Turkey brought this unique art for the people of Turkey to enjoy and appreciate. Famous Truck artist Mr. Haider Ali and his colleague Mr. Mumtaz Ahmed showed their artistic skills by painting a car in one of Ankara’s busy shopping Malls. They started their painting from 23rd March (National Day of Pakistan) and concluded their work today.
Ms Burcu on the occasion said that the people of Turkey has a natural love Pakistan. “I witnessed love and respect for Turkish people when I was in Pakistan recently for Jhal Magsi car rally,” she said. Pakistan is a great country, who showered on me traditional hospitality during my stay, she added.
Ambassador Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat appreciated the hard work of Pakistani artists. He said that Turkish people must have enjoyed the unique truck art of Pakistan. He shared the news that the same artists will now paint a bus for the Istanbul Municipality from 1st April for about two weeks. Venue for the

Pakistan Cultural Week- Screening of Pakistani film ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ and Documentary ‘A Music Fairy’

ANKARA, 30 March 2012:  As part of the activities of the Pakistan Cultural Week, the Embassy of Pakistan in partnership with the Urdu Department, University of Ankara arranged special screening of famous Pakistani Film “Khuda Kay Liye” (In the Name of God) by leading Pakistani Director Mr. Shoaib Mansoor here Thursday evening.
Audience appreciated the way issues facing the world are discussed in the film. In this way, some very controversial questions, which have been engaging the Muslims minds these days, have been addressed. The film thus in a way gives direction to the youth.
A documentary on the life of the first female pop singers of Pakistan late Nazia Hasan was also shown to the audience. The documentary ‘A Music Fairy,’ directed and produced by Ahmad Haseeb, was viewed with interest by music lovers. Audience appreciated the quality and research done for producing the documentary.
Earlier Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat welcomed the guests. He said the objective of organizing this activity under Pakistan Cultural Week was to show to our Turkish audience the creativity of Pakistan’s film industry.

Pakistan Cultural Week - Cultural Night enthralls audience

ANKARA, 29 March 2012:  Over 500 people attended the spectacular Cultural Night of Pakistan under the theme ‘Rumi and Iqbal’ organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Ankara Wednesday evening. This cultural extravaganza was the central event of the Cultural Week of Pakistan titled ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan,’ and being celebrated in Turkey since 19th March 2012.
Top leadership of Turkey including the Acting Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Bülent Arınç and his wife Mrs. Münevver Arınç, Mrs. Zeynep Babacan - the Spouse of Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ali Babacan, Mrs. Sara Davutoğlu – the Spouse of the Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Naci Koru, parliamentarians, Turkish military leadership, ambassadors, businessmen, media representatives and members of Pakistani community attended the event.
Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad Qawwal group performed Qawali, a sufi music of Pakistan with the poetry of Mevlana Jallaleddin Rumi and famous Pakistani poet and philosopher Allama Muhammed Iqbal.
Event continued with a captivating fashion show by Pakistan’s leading fashion designer Ms. Nilofer Shahid.  With the exquisite collection of elegant, intricate and colorful dresses, which drew inspiration from Islamic and Mogul art, Nilofar paid tribute to the two greatest mystic poets of all time- Rumi and Iqbal. The audience appreciated both the performances with standing ovation.
In an informal chat with the media Deputy Prime Minister said he was very much impressed with the Qawali music. He said we love Pakistan from the core of our heart. Both countries enjoy this love for years. I also know that people of Pakistan love Turkey in the same way, he added.
Earlier, Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat welcomed the guests. Highlighting the objective of Pakistan Cultural Week, he said we wanted to share Pakistan’s beauty and cultural diversity and to reinforce the existing bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the people of Pakistan and Turkey.

Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan - High profile events mark the beginning of Pakistan Cultural Week

ANKARA, 25 March 2012:  With the objective to showcase the beauty and cultural diversity of Pakistan and to reinforce the existing bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the people of Pakistan and Turkey, Cultural Week of Pakistan organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Turkey commenced with National Day reception here Friday evening.
Turkish political and military leadership, parliamentarians, notables, media representatives, Pakistan community and diplomats based in Turkey attended the Pakistan Day Reception. Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Bulent Arinç, Defence Minister Mr. İsmet Yılmaz, Saadet Parti Genel Secretary Mr. Mustafa Kamalak, and Turkish Air and Navel Forces Chiefs were prominent among the guests attending. The Deputy Prime Minster also visited   an exclusive Photo exhibition titled ‘Journey of Friendship.’
Pakistan Food Festival was formally inaugurated with the Pakistan Day Reception Friday evening where the Chefs, who are specially brought from Pakistan, prepared various Pakistani cuisines for the guests. On Saturday, they hosted an exclusive lunch for the representatives of the Turkish media. With tables set inside the kitchen of a hotel, the guests were explained various aspects of preparation of Pakistani food. Leading Turkish TV channels filmed the activity for audience. To show the variety of street food, free offerings of Buryani, Chaat, Dahi Barhe, Gol Gappas, etc., were made on Sunday evening in one of Ankara’s busy shopping malls.

Another spectacular event was a special art activity where young Turkish children and other international students studying in Pakistan Embassy School at Ankara participated. They, under the supervision of art teacher made a large painting in the form of a mosaic depicting Pakistani and Turkish landscapes to symbolize the eternal friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey. Turkish Radio & Television Director Television H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Şahin was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the event.

This will will be followed a themed fashion show by Pakistan’s leading fashion designer Ms Nilofer Shahid. Theme for this spectacular cultural evening is ‘Iqbal and Rumi.’

ANKARA: 23 March 2012:   Pakistan Embassy in Ankara commemorated “Pakistan Day” at a ceremony here today. The Ambassador of Pakist an Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat unfurled the Pakistan flag on the tune of National Anthem in presence of the Pakistani community and Embassy officials.  The Ambassador read out messages of President and Prime Minister.
The President in his message stated that it is reassuring that the Parliament of Pakistan has successfully removed the vestiges of dictatorship and restored the democratic Constitution of Pakistan. He urged the Pakistanis to resolve that they will not permit any dictator to usurp the basic fundamental rights of our people nor allow them to trample on our democratic aspirations. This requires that we work in the spirit of tolerance, mutual accommodation and respect for dissent.
The Prime Minister in his message said March 23 is a landmark day in the history of Pakistan when the Muslims of the subcontinent adopted the historic Lahore Resolution demanding a separate homeland for Muslims. Though Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, poet-philosopher, gave an idea for the establishment of a separate homeland in 1930, it was later on through the tireless efforts of Muhammad Ali Jinnah that the dream of Iqbal was realized. Mr. Gilani in his message said the present democratic government is committed to preserving our cultural heritage, distinct political and civilization identity in the light of the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
In the evening, the Embassy will host a reception where the Turkish leadership, parliamentarians, civil society, media and members of Pakistan community are invited to participate. Coinciding with national day celebrations, Pakistan Embassy is organizing Pakistan Cultural Week (23-30 March at Ankara, 3rd April at Istanbul) that includes programmes such as fashion show, food festival, qawali performance, truck art, painting competition for children, photo exhibition, etc.

‘Dostluğun Yolculuğu’ fotoğraf sergisi açıldı

Ankara, 20 Mart 2012: Kültür Haftası bugün Ankara’da, Dışişleri Bakanlığında açılan ‘Dostluğun Yolculuğu’ isimli fotoğraf sergisiyle resmen başladı. Açılışı T.C. Dışişleri Bakanlığı Müsteşarı Sn.Feridun Sinirlioğlu ve Pakistan’ın Türkiye Büyükelçisi Sn. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat birlikte yaptılar. 
Müsteşar Sinirlioğlu konuşmasında altkıta müslümanlarının Kurtuluş Savaşında yaptığı cömert yardımları hatırlattı. İki ülke arasındaki üst düzey ziyaretlerin, dostane ilikileri pekiştirdiğini belirtti. Yakın ekonomik etkileşimle bu ilişkilerin daha da güçleneceğini vurguladı. 
Büyükelçi Shaukat konuşmasında ‘Cive Cive Pakistan’ başlığı altında düzenlenen Kültür Haftasının başlıca amacının Pakistan ve Türk halkları arasındaki mevcut dostluk bağlarının pekiştirilmesi olduğunu vurguladı. Büyükelçi iki ülke arasında mükemmel olarak tanımladığı ilişkilerin, kültürel faaliyetler sayesinde karşılıklı anlayışın gelişmesine fayda sağlayacağını ve beraberinde ekonomik işbirliğini getireceğini söyledi. Bu etkinliğin gerçekleşmesinde destek veren Dışişleri Bakanlığına teşekkürlerini sundu.  
Sergide bulunan 78 fotoğraf iki ülke liderlerinin tarihi ilişkilerine ışık tutuyor. Sergide Türkiye’nin ilk Pakistan Büyükelçisi’nin 4 Mart 1948’de Karaçi’de yapılan bir törende, Kaid-i Azam’a güven mektubunu sunduğu fotoğraf ve diğer üst düzey ziyaretlere ait fotoğraflar yer alıyor. Fotoğraflar Pakistan’ın 23 Mart’taki Milli Gün resepsiyonunda da sergilenecek.

Pakistan Cultural Week - Photo exhibition ‘Journey of Friendship’ inaugurated

ANKARA, 20 March 2012:  The Pakistan Cultural Week was formally launched Monday evening with an exclusive photo exhibition titled ‘Journey of Friendship’ held at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara. The exhibition was jointly opened by the Turkish Foreign Secretary Mr. Feridun Sinirlioğlu and Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat.
 The Turkish Foreign Secretary in his address recalled the generous support of the people of Sub-Continent for the Turkish War of Independence. He said high level visits between the two countries cemented friendly relations between the two countries. These relations are further strengthened through close economic interaction, he added.
Ambassador Haroon in his address highlighted that the main purpose of the Cultural Week titled ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan,’ was to further strengthen the existing bonds of friendship between the people of Pakistan and Turkey. Ambassador Haroon said we have excellent brotherly relations with Turkey and stressed upon the need of more cultural activities which will further strengthen understanding of each other cultures and shall also result in creating economic partnerships.  He thanked the Turkish Foreign office for its support in the organization of the exhibition.
The photo exhibition consists of 78 photographs depicting historical relations between the two countries. It includes photograph of Quaid-e-Azam’s meeting with the first Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan during credentials ceremony held on 4 March 1948 at Karachi, besides other state level visits. This photographic exhibition will also be on display during National Day reception of Pakistan on 23rd March.

Türkiye’de ilk kez Pakistan Kültür Haftası düzenleniyor

Ankara, 19 Mart 2012: Pakistan’ın güzelliğini ve kültürel çeşitliliğini vitrine çıkarmak, Pakistan ve Türkiye halklarının arasındaki kardeşlik ve dostluk bağlarını güçlendirmek amacıyla, Pakistan Büyükelçiliği 23 Mart’taki Pakistan Milli Günü’ne denk gelecek şekilde Pakistan Kültür Haftası düzenlemektedir.
Bu ölçüde bir Kültür Haftası, bir Büyükelçilik tarafından Türkiye’de ilk kez düzenleniyor. ‘Cive Cive Pakistan’ başlığı altında düzenlenen bu hafta yemek festivali, kavali müziği, moda defilesi, çocukların sanat etkinliği ve kamyon sanatından oluşuyor. Çeşitli medya grupları, Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi, Türk ve Pakistanlı şirketler bu kültürel etkinlikleri destekliyor.

Buryani, Chaat, Dahi Barhe, Gol Gappas gibi Pakistan’ın sokak lezzetlerini Türk halkına tanıtmak amacıyla, Ankara’nın kalabalık AVM’lerinde ücretsiz olarak sunacak. 
Pakistan’ın klasik haute couture’ünün kraliçesi olarak bilinen Sn.Nilüfer Şahit, Ankara’da 28 Mart’ta ve İstanbul’da 3 Nisan’da olmak üzere, ‘İkbal ve Rumi’ temalı defilesini izleyicilerin beğenisine sunacak. Defileden önce meşhur Kaval Sn.Fareed Ayaz ve grubu Kavali müziği dinletisi sunacak.
İki ülke arasındaki sonsuz dostluk ve kardeşliği simgeleyen ve Türkiye’den çocukların boyayacağı, Pakistan ve Türkiye’den manzaraların oluşturduğu mozaik formundaki büyük bir resmin yapılacağı özel bir sanat etkinliği olacak.
Kamyon Sanatı Pakistan’ın değişik bir sanatıdır. Bu eşsiz sanatı Türk halkının beğenisine ve takdirine sunmak için Pakistan’ın meşhur kamyon sanatçısı Sn.Haider Ali, hafta boyunca Türkiye’de olacak ve canlı olarak sanatını bir minibüs üzerinde icra edecek. Türkiye’nin otomobil yarışçısı Sn.Burcu Çetinkaya kapanış törenine konuk olacak.

First Ever Pakistan Cultural Week to be held in Turkey

ANKARA, 19 March 2012:  With the objective to showcase the beauty and cultural diversity of Pakistan and to reinforce the existing bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the people of Pakistan and Turkey, the Embassy of Pakistan in Turkey is organizing a Cultural Week of Pakistan to coincide with our National Day celebrations on 23rd March.
This is the first time that the Cultural Week on this unprecedented scale has been organized by the Embassy in Turkey. Titled ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan,’ the week long activities include food festival, qawali performance, fashion show, truck art display and children art activities. Various Turkish media groups, Ankara municipality, and Turkish and Pakistani companies are supporting the cultural activities.
The Cultural Week was formally launched today with an exclusive Photo exhibition titled ‘Journey of Friendship’ held at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara. To bring the best of Pakistani food for the people of Turkey, Pakistan Food Festival is being organized in Swiss Hotel, Ankara (23-30 March) for which Chefs from Pakistan are being brought to prepare a variety of Pakistani meals for the guests. To give a taste of Pakistani food and the way it is prepared, an exclusive luncheon will be hosted for media representatives inside the kitchen of a hotel. To introduce street food to the Turkish audience, free offerings of Buryani, Chaat, Dahi Barhe, Gol Gappas, etc., will be made in one of Ankara’s busy shopping malls.
Known as Pakistan’s queen of classic haute couture, Ms Nilofer Shahid will present a fashion show on the theme of ‘Iqbal and Rumi’ on 28 March at Ankara and on 3rd April at Istanbul. Her themed fashion show will be preceded by a Qawali performance by the leading Qawal          Mr. Fareed Ayaz and his group.
Turkish children would be involved in a special art activity where they would make a large painting in the form of a mosaic depicting landscapes from Pakistan and Turkish to symbolize the eternal friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
Truck art is another interesting feature of Pakistani art. To bring this unique art for the people of Turkey to enjoy and appreciate, Pakistan’s famous truck artist Mr. Haider Ali will be in Turkey for live decoration of a bus (23-30 March). Turkey’s racing car driver Ms Burcu Cetinkaya will be guest at the concluding ceremony.

Pakistan ratifies D-8 Preferential Trade Agreement / Pakistan D-8 Tercihli Ticaret Anlaşmasını onayladı

ANKARA, 9 March 2012: Pakistan has ratified the D-8 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA). The Instrument of Ratification was handed over to the D-8 Secretary General Dr. Widi A. Pratikto by the Consul General of Pakistan Dr. Yousaf Junaid in Istanbul today.
The ratification of D-8 PTA by Pakistan signifies its commitment to the D-8 objectives of promoting and developing economic and commercial cooperation among the member states of D-8 group.
The D-8 Group was established in 1997 at the initiative of Turkey, to promote development cooperation among Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. The establishment of D-8 was announced officially through the Istanbul Declaration of Summit of Heads of State/Government on June 15, 1997.
D-8 member countries have a population of more than 961 million which represents almost 15% of the world population. Total trade among D-8 countries has grown from US$ 14.5 billion in 1999 to US$ 1.15 trillion in 2009.
Pakistan trade with D-8 countries accounts for 8.14% of its overall trade which is the highest as compared to the trade of other D-8 member states with members of the organization.

D-8 Grubu Türkiye’nin girişimiyle 1997 yılında, Bangladeş, Mısır, Endonezya, İran, Malezya,Nijerya, Pakistan ve Türkiye arasında kalkınma işbirliği teşvik etmek amacıyla kurulmuştur. D-8'inkuruluşu 15 Haziran 1997 tarihinde Devlet/Hükümet Başkanları Zirvesindeİstanbul Deklarasyonu ile resmen ilan edilmişti.
D-8 üyesi ülkelerin nüfusu 961 milyon’dan fazla ve dünya nüfusunun yaklaşık %15’ini temsil etmektedir. D-8 ülkeleri arasında toplam ticaret 1999 yılında$14.5 milyar dolar iken, 2009 yılında $ 1.15 trilyon dolara yükselmiştir.
