Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Turkey meet on the sidelines of 14th OIC Summit

Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with his Turkish counterpart Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Makkah on 30th May on the sidelines of 14th OIC Summit.  Both the foreign ministers discussed the brotherly Pakistan-Turkey ties. They also discussed preparations for the next High Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting to be held in Pakistan soon. Both sides agreed agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, economy and culture. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Turkey have multi-faceted relations for being government to government, people to people and heart to heart. He said both the countries openly supported each other in difficult times. He said Turkey backed Pakistan's stance in the Pakistan-India tension following the Pulwama incident. He said there has been complete harmony in the viewpoints of Pakistan and Turkey on several international issues. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said it is either 2005 devastating earthquake or 2010 flood, Turkey came to help Pakistan.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said Pakistan was the first country to give assurance of its support to the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the failed military coup in Turkey on July 15, 2016. Turkish Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan's contributions for peace and security in the region. He termed as "important" the contributions made by Pakistan for ongoing peace process in Afghanistan.
