Turkish support for economic uplift of Pakistan


ANKARA, 9 August 2012: Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Bekir Bozdağ in a meeting here today with President of Pakistan’s Special Envoy/Miniter of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan assured full support of Turkey for initiating projects according to the development needs of Pakistan.

While terming the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey as exemplary, both the dignataries agreed to further strengthen existing cooperation in the socio-economic field.

Mr. Bekir Bozdağ referred to signing of different agreements during recent Pakistan visit of Turkish Prime Minister. He hoped that these agreements will carry our economic relations into further heights. He stressed on the need of close cooperation between the Universities which will benefit both countries. Mr. Bekir also suggested close cooperation in the tourism sector. Many Turkish tourists would be happy to visit Pakistan as every Turk has feelings of sympathy and love for Pakistan, he added.

The visitng dignitary complimented Turkey for achieving remarkable economic success in recent years. Malik Amad said both the brotherly countries have unanimity of views on global issues. He appreciated Turkey’s role in Afghanistan-Pakistan-Turkey summits.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan is visiting Turkey as President of Pakistan’s Special Envoy. He is having consultations with the Turkish leadership on regional situation and the forcoming Summit meeting of Organization of Islamic Conference being held in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next week. Malik Amad will deliver special message of President of Pakistan to President of Turkey on 11 August.

Senior officials of the Turkish Government and Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey H.E. Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat also attended the meeting.
