Event to express solidarity with the Women in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir held in Ankara

ANKARA, 20 September 2019: An event entitled“Respect and Dignity of Women in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir”was organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara today to express solidarity with the resilient women of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The event was attended by a large number of Turkish and Pakistani community, students as well as media representatives.  

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Shaza Syrus, spouse of the Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey, said that the presence of the large number of guests, especially women, at the event was an expression of strong moral support for the people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, particularly the brave Kashmiri women.


Expressing concern at the grave human rights and humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, Mrs. Shaza Syrus said that women and children are bearing the brunt of these atrocities – physically as well as psychologically. She said that Kashmiri women were living under an occupation where neither their lives nor their honour was safe, and called on the international community to step-in to end these atrocities. She emphasized that despite the use of brute force against the Kashmiri women, Indian occupation forces had failed to prevent them from their just struggle for the right to self-determination. 

She added that the story of resilience and defiance that the women of Kashmir were writing with their courage would continue to inspire other women round the globe. 

Mrs. Shaza Syrusunderlined that the day was not far away when the people of Jammu & Kashmir – led by its resilient women and defiant girls – would be able to achieve their inalienable right of self-determination.
