Pakistan-Turkey Parliamentary relations to be further deepened

ANKARA, 8 March 2016: Pakistan and Turkey would be working closely to further deepen the Parliament-to-Parliament relations, as part of their ongoing endeavours for a comprehensive, multifaceted partnership. This resolve was reaffirmed during the call by Pakistan’s Ambassador Sohail Mahmood on the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) Mr. Ismail Kahraman.

During the meeting, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood conveyed cordial greetings of Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. He also delivered Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s message of sympathy and condolences over the recent incident of terrorism in Ankara and Pakistan’s unshakeable solidarity with Turkey in the fight against terrorism. The strong foundations of the Pakistan-Turkey relationship -- based on history and indissoluble bonds of faith and culture -- were emphasized.  Mutual support on each other’s national causes, i.e. Cyprus and Kashmir, was reiterated. The common commitment to transform the cordial ties into a strong economic partnership was reaffirmed.

It was agreed that exchange of high-level visits and frequent interaction between the Parliamentary Friendship Groups as well as relevant Parliamentary Committees would help further reinforce the people-to-people contacts.
