Ambassador of Pakistan discusses energy cooperation with Turkish Minister

ANKARA, 13 November 2014: Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat here today called on Turkish Minister for Forestry & Water Affairs Mr. Veysel Eroğlu and discussed Pakistan-Turkey cooperation in energy sector, particularly setting up small and medium sized hydro power projects in Pakistan.

The Turkish Minister said Turkey has vast experience in hydropower sector saying, "right now we are entering the world as the third big country in terms of dams and hydroelectric power plants.” He recalled the great support given by the Muslims of the Sub Continent for Turkish war of independence. He said it is our duty to take care of each other’s needs. Mr. Veysel Eroğlu reiterated his offer to support Pakistan in building dams and hydroelectric power plants so that Pakistan could overcome energy shortage.


Ambassador Haroon Shaukat informed that Pakistan is facing energy shortfall. He said Pakistan could benefit from the Turkish experience to produce clean and cheap energy through hydroelectric power plants.
