Chughtai Art Award for Young Turkish Artists


ANKARA, 27 April 2012:  In order to further promote understanding between Turkey and Pakistan, the Embassy of Pakistan in Turkey in collaboration with Ankara Provincial National Education Directorate organized an art competition titled “Chughtai Art Award.” Named after the renowned Pakistani artist Abdul Rahman Chughtai, this was the second consecutive year of holding of the competition.
High school students of the 25 districts of Ankara Province participated in the competition. Depicting students’ ideas about Pakistan and Turkey, a total of 63 paintings were shortlisted for consideration of the jury, who selected 9 paintings for prizes in three categories. A painting made by Ms. İrem Atayakulol of Ankara Güzel Sanatlar ve Spor Lisesi won the first prize while paintings of Ms. Gülşah Bostan of Nurettin Karagoz Vakfi Anadolu Lisesi and Ms. Feyza Akkuş of Faruk Nafiz Çamlibel Anadolu Lisesi got second and third positions respectively.
Speaking at an Exhibition and Prize Distribution Ceremony here at Ankara, Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Mr. M. Haroon Shaukat said Pakistan and Turkey have excellent brotherly relations. The affection and care of the peoples of our two countries has no match around the world. “Our confidence grows when we see such display of solidarity, love and support of our Turkish brethren,” said the Envoy. He lauded the spirit and zeal of the students and teachers who organized the event.
Deputy Director General of Ankara Provincial National Education Directorate Mr. Ismail Hakki Ozen said all students in Ankara have love for Pakistan and a reflection of this love could be seen in these paintings.
Participating students of the competition made paintings on the theme 'landscapes of Pakistan.' The paintings were evaluated by a panel of independent judges. All the participating students, their parents and teachers, and senior officials from the Ankara Provincial National Education Directorate attended the certificate award ceremony.
The exhibition will remain open to public from 27-29 April.
