Skopje, Macedonia - 27 February 2012: The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, on Friday received the Letters of Credence of H.E. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat, newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Macedonia, resident in Ankara, Turkey.
President Ivanov and Ambassador Shaukat at the meeting discussed the relations between the two countries and expressed the hope for further strengthening bilateral ties.
Ambassador Shaukat conveyed special greetings from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to President Ivanov. The newly appointed Ambassador reiterated his resolve to work very closely with the Macedonian friends to create a new chapter of special ties with tangible cooperation in the commercial field.
During his stay in Macedonia, Ambassador Shaukat was also received by Macedonian Foreign Minister Mr. Nikola Poposki and other senior officials of the Macedonian Government. The Ambassador held special meetings with the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce and met with corporate sector executives. During these meetings, he impressed upon the need to create an interface between the business communities of the two countries.
The Macedonian authorities agreed to create necessary facilitative framework for promoting commercial relations including Free Trade Agreement and Agreement on Protection of Investment and Avoidance of Double Taxation. ENDS
