Prime Minister Gilani Arrives in Turkey

ANKARA, 6 Dec: Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani arrived at Ankara’s Esenboğa International Airport this afternoon. Mr. Gilani was received by H.E. Mr. Mehmet Aydin, Turkish State Minister for Science and Technology.

This visit is especially significant as Prime Minister Gilani alongside Turkish Prime Minister H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan will inaugurate the High Level Cooperation Council. The visiting delegation includes Federal Ministers for Defence, Commerce, Water & Power, Petroleum & Natural Resources, Railways, and Chairman Board of Investment. The Cooperation Council provides a unique platform to chart a long-term strategic trajectory of our relations. 

Mr. Gilani will have the honour to address the Turkish Grand National Assembly. He will have meetings with President of the Republic Turkey H.E.  Abdullah Gül.

In recognition of Gilani’s services for promoting brotherly relations between the two countries, President of the Republic of Turkey will confer the award “Republic Order” (Cumhuriyet Nişan) in a special investiture ceremony.

Premier Gilani will interact with Turkish business community at Istanbul over a luncheon hosted by Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) of Turkey.

In a special convocation ceremony, Marmara University will award Honorary Doctorate degree in journalism to Prime Minister Gilani.
