ANKARA, 22 February 2016: Art works by 5 Pakistani artists were displayed at a Group Exhibition at the Yunus Emre Cultural Centre (Çetin Emeç Art Gallery) in Istanbul from 15-20 February 2016.
Titled “Fraternity And Aesthetics in World Art”, the Exhibition was curated by Turkish artist Reyhani Akan, while miniaturist Sabriye Şeker was the Project Manager.
From Pakistan, art pieces by Ayesha Durrani, Anas Ghauri, Iram Zia Raja, Rahim Baloch and Anam Bhatti were included in the Exhibition.
A total of 90 paintings by 30 artists from Turkey, Australia, Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kosovo, Pakistan, Uruguay and U.S.A., formed the group exhibition.
Explaining the Exhibition’s focus, Curator Reyhani Akan said the participating “artists are depicting the historical, political, religious, folkloric, mythological, local, universal, heroic, epic, iconic and spiritual themes in figurative, abstract or experimental methods.”
“These artists are trying to reach new horizons by the inspiration of artistic heritage are showing the ways to form a common future by building a bridge between different civilizations,” he added.
Commenting on the Exhibition, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood said the organizers had taken a laudable initiative to strengthen interaction between artists and thus further enrich the process of wider cultural collaboration.
Ambassador Sohail expressed the hope that along with growing political and economic cooperation, artists’ interface and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Turkey would also acquire higher levels.
