Foreign Minister of Pakistan Calls on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

ANKARA, 19 May 2021: Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on President of Republic of Turkey Hon. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 18 May 2021 in Ankara. 

The Foreign Minister conveyed best wishes from Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as appreciation for President Erdogan’s highlighting Israeli injustices and excesses against the Palestinian people. 

The Foreign Minister briefed the Turkish President on the sentiment prevailing in Pakistan in support of the people of Palestine including the resolution unanimously adopted by the National Assembly, as well as the diplomatic contacts made by Pakistan on this issue. 

President Erdoğan appreciated the diplomatic outreach being carried out by the leadership of Pakistan on the Palestine issue. He noted that the Turkish Foreign Minister earlier in the day had informed the Turkish Parliament about the visit of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and had acknowledged that Pakistan steadfastly stood behind the Palestinian people. 

Thanking President Erdoğan for his support on Jammu and Kashmir, the Foreign Minister underlined that it was a source of strength for the people of the occupied territory. The Foreign Minister assured Pakistan’s continued support to Turkey on its core interests. 

Expressing concern on rising Islamophobia, the Foreign Minister emphasized the need for continued joint efforts at all relevant multilateral fora. He thanked President Erdoğan for Turkey’s support in this regard. 

Foreign Minister Qureshi also briefed the Turkish President on Pakistan’s facilitative role in the Afghan peace process and appreciated Turkey’s efforts in helping re-energize it. 

The Foreign Minister remarked that the Prime Minister attached high importance to fraternal bilateral relations with Turkey including the institutional mechanism of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). He recalled President Erdogan’s last visit to Pakistan in February 2020, which helped transform Pakistan-Turkey relationship into a robust strategic partnership through Strategic Economic Framework (SEF). 

President Erdoğan stated that he looked forward to receiving Prime Minister Imran Khan in Turkey for the next session of the HLSCC at a mutually convenient date.

Pakistan Dışişleri Bakanı ve Türkiye Dışişleri Bakanı İkili Toplantısı


ANKARA, 18 Mayıs, 2021: Pakistan Dışişleri Bakanı Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Türk Dışişleri Bakanı Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu ile 18 Mayıs 2021’de Ankara’da görüştü.  Dışişleri Bakanı Türkiye’yi İsrail’de İşgal Altındaki Filistin Bölgelerinde giderek kötüleşen durum üzerine görüşlerini paylaşmak ve Filistin halkının acılarını dindirmek için ortak bir strateji geliştirmek amacıyla ziyaret ediyor. 

Toplantı sırasında, iki Dışişleri Bakanı Filistinlilere karşı İsrail şiddetini durdurmaya yardımcı olmak için uluslararası topluluğu harekete geçirmenin yollarını tartıştılar.  Şu yeniden teyit edildi ki, uluslararası topluluğun meseleyi ele almak, barışı yeniden tesis etmek ve adil bir çözüm bulmaya yardımcı olmak için gerekli adımların atılması bakımından ortak bir sorumluluğu bulunmaktadır.  

 

Dışişleri Bakanı Türk mevkidaşını, Pakistan Milli Meclisi tarafından oybirliğiyle uygulanan karar dahil olmak üzere, Pakistan’da Filistin halkını desteklemek için devam eden hissiyat hakkında bilgilendirdi. 

 

İki ülke arasındaki mükemmel ikili ilişkilerin keyfini çıkaran iki taraf, bu yıl Türkiye’de düzenlenecek olan Yüksek Düzeyde Stratejik İşbirliği Konseyinin (HLSCC) 7. Oturumu için süregiden hazırlıkları tartıştılar.  

 

Dışişleri Bakanı Qureshi aynı zamanda Türkiye’nin Yasadışı Hint İşgalindeki Cammu ve Keşmir’e verdiği prensipli ve sağlam destek için şükranlarını yineledi.

 

Pakistan’ın barışçıl, güvenli ve istikrarlı bir Afganistan için ısrarlı ilgisinin altını çizen Dışişleri Bakanı Qureshi, Pakistan’ın Afgan barış sürecini kolaylaştırmak için harcadığı ısrarlı çabaların bir resmini çizdi.  Kendisi, Afgan sürecinin taraflarının bu fırsatı değerlendireceğini ve siyasi olarak dahil edici bir çözüm üretecekleri konusundaki ümidini ifade etti.  Dışişleri Bakanları ayrıca Afgan barış sürecine yeniden enerji kazandırmak için Türkiye’nin harcadığı benzersiz çabaları övdü.  

 

Dışişleri Bakanı, Filistin meselesi üzerine BM Genel Kurulundaki bir toplantıya katılmak için Türk Dışişleri Bakanı ile beraber New York’a gidecek.  

 

Bu iki Dışişleri Bakanı arasında 2021’deki dördüncü toplantıydı.  İki ülke arasındaki yüksek düzeyde ziyaretlerin sıklığı, ikili ilişkilerin güçlü olduğunu ve bir dizi mesele üzerindeki görüşlerin ortak olduğunu yansıtmaktadır.  

 

Pakistan'ın diplomatik çabalarının bir parçası olarak, Başbakan İmran Han ve Dışişleri Bakanı Qureshi bir dizi ülkeye eriştiler, bunlara Filistin, Türkiye, Suudi Arabistan, Mısır, Endonezya ve diğerleri dahildir.

Bilateral Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Turkey


ANKARA, 18 May 2021: Foreign Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 18 May 2021 in Ankara. The Foreign Minister is visiting Turkey to exchange views on the worsening situation in the Israeli Occupied Palestinian Territories.

 

During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers discussed ways to mobilize the international community to help stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. It was reaffirmed that the international community had a collective responsibility in ensuring necessary steps to help address the dire situation, restore peace, and facilitate a just solution.

 

The Foreign Minister apprised his Turkish counterpart of the sentiment prevailing in Pakistan in support of the people of Palestine including the resolution unanimously adopted by the National Assembly of Pakistan.

 

While taking stock of the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, the two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for the 7th Session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) that will be held in Turkey this year.

 

Foreign Minister Qureshi also reiterated appreciation for Turkey’s principled and steadfast support on the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

 

Underscoring Pakistan’s abiding interest in a peaceful, secure and stable Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Qureshi illustrated Pakistan’s consistent efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process. He expressed the hope that the Afghan parties would seize the opportunity and workout an inclusive politically-negotiated settlement. The Foreign Minister also lauded Turkey’s valuable efforts to re-energize the Afghan peace process.

 

The Foreign Minister and the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Palestine and other countries, will be traveling to New York to participate in-person in a meeting of the UN General Assembly on the Palestine issue.

 

Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Minister had convened a meeting of the OIC Executive Committee on Sunday to discuss the situation in Palestine. The Foreign Minister, as a member of the Executive Committee, had also addressed the meeting.

 

As part of Pakistan’s diplomatic endeavours, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Qureshi have reached out to a number of countries including Palestine, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia and others.

  



Pakistan Prime Minister receives a telephone call from President of Turkey


Islamabad , 12 May 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan received a telephone call from President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. 

The two leaders exchanged views on Israel’s heinous attack during Ramazan on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the worshippers inside as well as on Gaza violating all norms of humanity and international law. They vowed to work together especially at the United Nations in jointly mobilizing the international community to help stop these attacks.

The leaders also agreed that the two Foreign Ministers would be working closely together  to raise the Palestinian issue at international level. 

The regional security situation also came under discussion between the two leaders. Appreciating Turkey’s role, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a responsible withdrawal and added that Pakistan would continue to extend all possible support to the efforts for a political solution for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Both leaders discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations and agreed that the momentum of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Turkey would continue. 

The two leaders also exchanged greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr.
