President
of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Dr. Serdar Çam was
the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
A large number of Turkish dignitaries including Member of the Parliament
and President of Pakistan-Turkey Cultural Association Mr. Burhan Kayaturk,
Undersecretary of the Ministry of EU Affairs Mr. Engin Soysal, members of
Pakistan community and general public attended the opening ceremony. Senior
officials from the Turkish Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture and
members of the diplomatic corps were also present.
Addressing
guests at the launching ceremony, Dr. Serdar Çam said TIKA was keen to play a
major role in promoting economic and cultural ties with Pakistan. He also
lauded Turkish photographers for their excellent efforts to introduce Pakistan
to Turkey through their photographs.
In his
remarks on the occasion, Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood
highlighted the special nature of Pakistan-Turkey relations. He stated that
expanding bilateral cultural collaboration and people-to-people exchanges were
among the central priorities, apart from fortifying political and economic
ties.
Commending
the photographic works on display, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said the
photographers’ observant eyes had captured remarkable images of Pakistan. He
said these exhibits illustrated the natural beauty of Pakistan, the vibrancy of
its people, and the diversity and richness of its culture. "These artistic
illustrations highlight many sides of Pakistan, which at times tend to get obscured
in a media blitz thriving on stereotyping," he added.
