ANKARA, 3
November 2015: The President of Pakistan, Mr. Mamnoon Hussain, and Prime Minister, Mr.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, held separate telephonic conversations with President Recep
Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
The Pakistani
leadership extended felicitations over peaceful completion of the electoral
process and the historic success of the Justice & Development Party (AK
Party) in the Parliamentary elections of 1 November 2015. They also expressed
the hope that Pakistan’s close fraternal relations with Turkey would be further
strengthened in the next term and that both countries would chart a new course
through broadening of economic and trade ties.
President Mamnoon
Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have also
sent separate messages of felicitations to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
President Mamnoon
Hussain, in his message, said: “It gives me immense pleasure to extend to you
my heartfelt felicitations on the remarkable success of the Justice and
Development Party (AKP) in the General Elections on 1 November 2015. By giving
a clear mandate to the AKP, the people of Turkey have reaffirmed their desire
to continue on the path of stability and socio-economic development, which the
AKP leadership has so prudently advanced during its 13 years in government. I
am confident that under your sagacious leadership, the new AKP government would
continue to steer the country towards greater progress and prosperity...”
Prime Minister Nawaz
Sharif, in his message said: “It is with profound pleasure that I extend to you
my warmest and most sincere felicitations, on a historic victory for the AK
Party in Turkey’s 26th general elections. This latest electoral victory in a
continuous streak of wins since 2002 is without parallel in modern democratic
history and reflects the abiding trust of the Turkish people in the AK Party
and its leadership, based on their solid track record. We have no doubt that
building on the remarkable economic development achieved over the past 13
years, Turkey would continue to march forward on the path to greater progress
and prosperity and sustainable political stability in the years to come.” Referring to the long-standing fraternal ties
between Pakistan and Turkey, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said: “I look forward
to working closely with Your Excellency to further fortify this strategic
relationship and strengthening our partnership in support of international and
regional peace, stability and development.”
