PRIME MINISTERS OF PAKISTAN AND TURKEY MEET IN NEW YORK

Islamabad: September 30, 2015: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met earlier today on the sidelines of the 70th UNGA Session in New York.
The Turkish Prime Minister hailed Pak-Turkey ties as “heart-to-heart” relations between two brotherly countries.
During the meeting, the two leaders had a very useful exchange of views covering a wide range of issues. Both agreed to work closely through the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) mechanism to further cement bilateral ties. More than 50 agreements/MoUs have been signed under this mechanism which are at various stages of implementation.
The Prime Minister and Mr. Davutoglu also agreed to further enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey at multilateral forums such as UN, OIC and ECO. Pakistan and Turkey share similar concerns over UN reforms, especially UN Security Council expansion. Both are members of the Uniting for Consensus (UfC) group. The two countries agreed to closely coordinate positions and lend support to each others’ candidatures in multilateral bodies. 
The Prime Minister availed the opportunity to take his Turkish counterpart into confidence on Pakistan’s concerns over the security situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s relations with India. Pakistan and Turkey reiterated unequivocal support for each other’s position on the issues of Kashmir and Cyprus.

Pakistan-Turkey collaboration on disaster management to be intensified

ANKARA, 30 September 2015:  Pakistan and Turkey would work together to further intensify mutual collaboration in the field of disaster management. This was agreed during the meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Sohail Mahmood, and Dr. Fuat Oktay, President of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in Ankara.
Ambassador Sohail Mahmood conveyed deep appreciation for AFAD’s assistance for relief and rehabilitation operations in the aftermath of recent natural disasters in Pakistan. The Ambassador also highlighted the strong track record of Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in effective disaster management and its desire to closely collaborate with AFAD in diverse fields. 
Both sides agreed to work on a number of initiatives -- including sharing of experiences and knowledge in disaster management, training of experts, joint exercises, hosting of joint conference, and high-level exchanges to intensify cooperation, bilaterally and in the wider regional context. 

Pakistan Yükseköğretim Kurumu (HEC) ve Yükseköğrenim Kurumu (YÖK) eğitim alanındaki işbirliğini arttırma sözü verdi

ANKARA,14 Eylül 2015: Pakistan’ın  Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu ve Türkiye’de bulunan  YÖK  karşılıklı işbirliğini daha da youğunlaştırmak ve iki ülke yüksek öğrenim kurumları arasındaki ilişkileri dahada derinleştirmek konularında söz verdiler. Bu sözler, Pakistan Büyükelçisi Sohail Mahmood ‘un YÖK Başkanı Prof.Dr. Yekta Saraç’ı ziyareti sırasında karşılıklı olarak verildi.

YÖK ile Pakistan Yükseköğretim  Kurumu ( HEC) arasındaki işbirliğinin arttırılmasına yönelik yasal çerçevenin güçlendirilmesi, her iki ülkenin Rektörleri / Rektör Yardımcıları düzeyinde karşılıklı ziyaretlerde bulunmaları, Tükiye ve Pakistan’da bulunan Üniversiteler ve Fakülteler ve  değişim Programları ile ilgili işbirliği sürecinde  mutabakat zaptlarının hızlı bir şekilde takip edilmesi  konuları görüşmede ele alındı. İlgili Pakistan üniversitelerinde Teknoparklar kurulması konusunda görüş alışverişinde bulunuldu.


Halihazırda 1100’den fazla Pakistanlı öğrenci Türkiye’nin çeşitli üniversitelerinde öğrenim görmekte ve bu öğrencilerin önemli bir kısmı da HEC bursu ile okumaktadır. Her iki ülkenin ortak çabası Pakistanlı ve Türk öğrenci sayılarını karşılıklı olarak daha da arttırmaktır.

HEC and YOK committed to enhance Pakistan-Turkey collaboration in the field of higher education


ANKARA, 14 September 2015: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the Higher Education Council (YÖK) of Turkey have reaffirmed the commitment to further intensify their mutual collaboration and promote deeper links between the institutions of higher learning in the two countries.  The reaffirmation came during the meeting between Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Mr. Sohail Mahmood and the YÖK President, Prof. Dr. M.A. Yekta Saraç, in Ankara.

The discussions covered a broad range of subjects including strengthening the legal framework for increased HEC-YOK cooperation, exchange of high-level visits, increased interaction between Rectors/Vice Chancellors on both sides, steady follow-up on MoUs on collaboration between Turkish and Pakistani Universities, and faculty and student exchanges. Views were also exchanged on the establishment of Teknoparks in relevant Pakistani universities.

Currently, there are more than 1100 Pakistani students studying in various Turkish Universities, including a sizeable number under HEC scholarships. The endeavor on both sides is to facilitate further increases of Pakistani and Turkish students in their respective universities.

Senatör Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Ankara’da Ak Parti Kongresi’ne katıldı.

ANKARA,12 Eylül 2015: Pakistan Müslüman Ligi Genel Sekreteri Senatör Iqbal Zafar Jhagra(N) Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi’nin bugün gerçekleşen Parti 5. Olağan Kongresine katıldı.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pakistan Başbakanı Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’in  talimatı ile Türkiye’de bulunuyor ve  Ak Parti Kongresinde  Başbakan Nawaz Sharif’i  temsil etmek üzere kongreye katıldı. Ak Parti Kongresi, Türkiye ‘de 1 Kasım 2015 tarihinde yapılacak olan Milletvekili seçimleri öncesinde gerçekleştirildi.


Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Başbakanı ile kongrede görüşen Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Başbakan Davutoğlu’na, Başbakan Nawaz Shaif’in selamlarını, iyi dileklerini iletti ve Pakistan Başbakanı’nın gelecek seçimlerde Başbakan Davutoğlu’na başarılar dilediğini ifade etti. Senatör Jhagra,  iki ülke arasındaki mükemmel düzeydeki siyasi ilişkilerin, güçlü ekonomik ilişkilere de dönüştürüleceğinin sözünü verdi. Senatör Jhagra, ayrıca, özellikle ticaret, yatırım alanında,  kültürel ilişkiler, öğrenci değişimleri ve halklar arası etkileşimin de arttırılması gerektiğinin önemini vurguladı.


Başbakan Davutoğlu, Ak Parti Kongresine katılımından dolayı  Senatör Jhagra’ya teşekkür etti ve Başbakan Nawaz Sharif’e en içten selamlarını iletmesini istedi. Başbakan Davutoğlu da iki ülke arasındaki benzersiz  ilişkilerin altını çizdi ve iki ülkenin beraber kederlenip, neşelendiğini vurguladı. Senatör Jhagra gibi Başbakan Davutoğlu da, ikili ekonomik ilişkileri  daha da yoğunlaştırma ve her alanda işbirliği yapma sözü verdi. Görüşme sırasında Başbakan’ın eşi Dr. Sare Davutoğlu da bulundu. Kongre sırasında Başbakan Nawaz Sharif’in Davutoğlu’na gönderdiği iyi dilek ve başarı mesajı kongre delegelerine okundu ve mesaj coşkuyla karşılandı.

Senatör Jhagra, kongrede, aralarında AK Parti  Dışilişkiler Başkan Yardımcısı Sayın Yasin Aktay, eski Dışişleri  Bakanı Sayın Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu ve Pakistan – Türk Parlamentolar arası Dostluk Grubu Başkanı Sayın Burhan Kayatürk’ün de bulunduğu çok sayıda AK Parti yönetici ile temaslarda bulundu.

Senatör Jhagra, KKTC Başbakanı Sayın Ömer Kalyoncu’nun da aralarında bulunduğu  çok sayıda yabancı liderle de kongrede görüştü.


Başbakan Ahmet Davutoğlu, Ak Parti 5. Olağan Kongresinde, Ak Parti Genel Başkanlığı’na yeniden seçildi.

Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra attends AK Party Congress in Ankara

ANKARA, 12 September 2015: Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), attended the 5th Statutory Congress of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara today.

Senator Jhagra is visiting Turkey on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to attend the Congress on his behalf. The AK Party Congress was convened in the run-up to the renewed Parliamentary elections in Turkey, scheduled to take place on 1 November 2015.

Meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on this occasion, Senator Jhagra conveyed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s special greetings to him as well as best wishes for a successful Party Congress and the forthcoming elections. Stressing the special nature of Pakistan-Turkey relations, Senator Jhagra reaffirmed the commitment to transform the excellent political relations between the two countries into a strong economic partnership. He underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation in all fields, marked in particular by increased trade and investment, cultural and student exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.

Prime Minister Davutoglu thanked Senator Jhagra for attending the AK Party Congress and asked him to convey his warmest greetings to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Prime Minister Davutoglu also highlighted the unique closeness of Turkey-Pakistan relations, stressing that the two nations shared sorrows and joys and always grieved and rejoiced together. He fully reciprocated the commitment to further intensify bilateral economic partnership and cooperation in all fields. The Turkish Prime Minister’s spouse, Dr. Sare Davutoglu, was also present.
 
During the proceedings of the Congress, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s message of good wishes for the AK Party leadership and for a successful Congress was also announced to the participating delegates, who greeted it enthusiastically.

In the course of the Congress, Senator Jhagra interacted with a number of AK Party leaders -- including Vice Chairman in Charge of Foreign Affairs Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay, former Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, and Head of the Turkey-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group Burhan Kayaturk.

Senator Jhagra also interacted with a number of foreign dignitaries attending the Congress, which included TRNC Prime Minister Omer Kalyoncu. Both sides expressed the desire to further deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas.

During the 5th statutory Congress, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was re-elected as the Chairman of the AK Party.  

Keçiören Belediye Başkanı Pakistan Büyükelçiliği’ni ziyaret etti - Büyükelçi Sohail Mahmood: Ulusal Kalkınmada Belediyelerin öneli çok büyük

ANKARA,9 Eylül 2015: Keçiören Belediye Başkanı Sayın Mustafa AK, Pakistan Büyükelçiliği’ne  bir ziyarette bulundu ve Büyükelçi Sohail Mahmood ile makamında bir görüşme yaptı.

Belediye Başkanı Sayın Mustafa AK’ı , Büyükelçiliğe yaptığı ziyarette sıcak bir ilgi ile karşılayan  Büyükelçi Sohail Mahmood, kalkınma süresinde,  temel hizmetlerin halka etkin bir şekilde dağıtılabilmesi için Belediyelerin oldukça büyük bir önem taşıdığının  altını çizdi. Başkan Mustafa AK’ın bu süreçte proaktif bir role sahip olduğundan övgüyle bahseden Büyükelçi Sohail Mahmood, Pakistan Büyükelçiliği’nin  “ Pakistan Evi” açtığı   ve Pakistan’lı öğrencilerin  kültürel dans gösterileri gerçekleştirdiği “Pakistan Gecesini” ve  “Uluslararası Razamazan Etkinliklerini”düzenlemesi sebeiyle  Başkan Mustafa AK’ı  tebrik etti.
 

Büyükelçi Sohail Mahmood , ayrıca, Peşaver Askeri Okulun’da Aralık 2014’te meydana gelen terör saldırısında şehit olan  öğrencilerin anısına Keçiören’de ağaç dikme töreni gerçekleştirilmesinden dolayı Keçiören Belediye Başkanı’na teşekkürlerini sundu. Türk halkının bu kibar davranışı sebebiyle şükran duygularını dile getirdi.

Mayor of Keçiören visits Pakistan Embassy - Role of Municipalities in national development vital – Ambassador Sohail Mahmood

ANKARA, 9 September 2015: Mayor of Keçiören Municipility of Ankara, Mr. Mustafa Ak, visited the Embassy of Pakistan and met with Ambassador Sohail Mahmood.

Warmly welcoming Mayor Ak on his visit to the Embassy, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood underlined the pivotal role of municipilities in effective delivery of basic services to the people as part of the development process. He appreciated the pro-active role of Mayor Ak in this context and also congratulated him on the successful organization of International Ramazan Festival where the Embassy of Pakistan also setup ‘Pakistan Pavilion’ while a Pakistan Night comprising cultural performances of Pakistan was also arranged.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood also thanked the Keçiören Mayor for planting trees in memory of the school-children and staff martyred in a terrorist attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School in December 2014. He reitereated his sense of gratitude over this kind gesture of the Turkish people.
 
Mayor Mustafa Ak underlined that strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood connect Pakistan and Turkey.  He added that terrorism was the biggest challenge for the entire world and said that we will continue making efforts to eradicate this menace.


Ambassador Sohail Mahmood wished continued success in Turkey’s economic transformation and expressed the confidence that the journey of stability and development would continue in the post-election period.

Prime Ministers of Pakistan and Turkey had a telephonic conversation

Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had a telephonic conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu on Tuesday evening (8 September 2015). Both leaders exchanged views on matters relating to bilateral and mutual interest.

Turkish Renewable Energy Company Zorlu to Make Investment in 200MW Solar and 100 MW in Wind Power Projects in Pakistan

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Government of Pakistan welcomes renewable energy projects and has enforced polices which are investment in these projects.

“Pakistan offers good opportunities of investment in the renewable energy as the country is blessed with vast natural resources”.

The Minister for Water and Power was talking to a delegation of Zurlo Energy (Pvt.) Limited, the largest Solar company in Turkey led by Mr. Ibrahim Sinan, General Manager of the company which called on him at Islamabad on 8 September 2015.

It was apprised that the Zurlu Enerjy (Pvt.) Limited has completed the 56.4MW in Wind Power Plants in 2013 and is interested to make investment in   200 MW of solar power and 100 MW Wind power projects in the country.


The Minister said that all possible assistance would be extended for the facilitation of foreign investors in the country, particularly in the energy sectors.  He also lauded the role of the Turkish government in the infrastructure development in Pakistan.
