Assalam-u-Alaikum
We are delighted to gather here today to honour the High School students of Bitlis province, who have made beautiful paintings on the theme "Landmarks of Pakistan."
We feel particularly happy to be holding this event for the first time in Bitlis.
Holding this competition in the Eastern part of Turkey and participation by large number of students signifies that Pakistan-Turkey brotherhood is deeply rooted among our peoples.
This is now the 7th edition of the painting competition in Turkey, named after Pakistan’s outstanding painter Abdul Rehman Chughtai, a world-renowned miniaturist.
“Chughtai Art Awards” competition has become a regular feature of public diplomacy programme of the Embassy of Pakistan.
We hope to continue holding of this competition in other provinces as well.
I deeply appreciate the talent, hard work and deep thinking of all the participants of this competition.
I warmly congratulate the students who have won prizes and certificates of distinction. It is also a matter of pride for their families, teachers and schools.
Distinguished guests,
As you are aware, the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey is unique for its warmth and rests on the solid foundation of common faith, cultural and linguistic affinity, and shared history.
There are no two other nations in the world as close to each other as Pakistan and Turkey.
We also have an abiding tradition of always standing by each other in joy and sorrow, in good and bad times.
We hope that through such events and activities, we would be able to transmit this precious tradition to our younger generation to carry it forward.
I conclude by once again thanking all the distinguished guests for gracing today’s awards ceremony.
