“Jinnah Young Writers Award”, Ankara, 24 March 2016

Excellency Nabi Avci, Minister for National Education,
Respectable Mr. Burhan Kayaturk, Member Parliament and President, Pakistan-Turkey Cultural Association,
Distinguished Guests
Teachers, Parents, and my dear students!
Assalam-u-Alaikum
At the outset, I thank His Excellency Minister Nabi Avci for gracing this occasion with his participation as the Chief Guest.
I also extend gratitude to other distinguished guests for joining us in this awards ceremony.
Our purpose today is to honour the hard work of industrious senior high school students who wrote excellent essays on “Pakistan-Turkey Relations: A Historical Perspective.”
The award for this essay competition has been named after Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, and thus carries special significance.
Jinnah played a pivotal role in reinforcing the indissoluble bonds of mutual trust, understanding, and brotherhood between the Turkish and Pakistani nations.
We also know the spiritual connections between Mohammad Iqbal and Mevlana Rumi, and Iqbal and Mehmet Akif, which enormously enriched these bonds.
Our endeavor in instituting this annual Award is to reach out to the younger generation and acquaint them with the depth of our shared ties of faith, culture and history.
We are pleased that a total of 69 essays were received from 46 provinces across Turkey. Of these, 44 were contributed by female students and 25 by male students.
The quality of information and perspective contained in the essays is highly impressive. It illustrates both the keen interest of the students and their contributions to the relationship.
Distinguished Guests!
History is witness that Pakistan and Turkey have always stood by each other, in good times and bad. There is no doubt that the future would also be like that, Insha Allah!
The vision of the leadership in both countries is to transform this historic relationship into a strong partnership -- encompassing all fields of human endeavor.
In the domain of education and culture the graph of our joint initiatives is consistently growing and further enriching our relations at the people-to-people level.
I once again appreciate the spirit and zeal of the students and their teachers.
And I thank all the colleagues from the Ministry of National Education who helped organize this competition with great skill and make excellent arrangements for this ceremony today.
Love live Pakistan-Turkey brotherhood!
