Pakistan Hükümeti ve halkı adına ve kendi adıma 'Demokrasi ve Milli Birlik Gününde' kardeş Türkiye Hükümeti ve halkıyla dayanışma duygularımı yeniden teyit etmek isterim.

Tarih beş yıl önce bugün Türk halkının nasıl karakteristik direncini ve yiğitliğini gösterip Türkiye'de barış ve istikrarı ve aynı zamanda demokratik kurumlarını hedef almak isteyenleri yendiğini anacaktır.  Bugün aynı zamanda tüm Pakistan ulusunun tek bir ses olup Türkiye'de demokrasiyi ve refaha giden yolu baltalamak isteyenlerin girişimlerine karşı geldiği gündür.

Bugün Pakistan halkının Türk halkına katılıp şehitlerini onurlandırdığı ve ailelerine destek olduğu gündür.

Pakistan ve Türkiye arasındaki kardeşçe ve çok boyutlu ilişkilerin eşi benzeri yoktur ve zamanın sınamasından geçmiştir.  Pakistan halkı ve Hükümeti her zaman olduğu gibi Türkiye Hükümeti halkına ulusal güvenlik, barış ve refah arayışında güçlü desteklerini yinelemektedir ve her zaman onlarla paylaştığı bu hedeflere varması için yanlarında durmaya devam edecektir.

Dualarımız ve en iyi dileklerimiz barışa ve refaha ve en büyük zaferlere yürüyüşünüz sırasında sizlerle ve Türk halkıyla beraberdir. 

Text of the message of Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan addressed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the 5th anniversary of failed 15 July 2016 coup.

On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I would like to reaffirm our solidarity with the brotherly people and Government of Turkey on the occasion of ‘Democracy and National Unity Day.’

History will remember how five years ago, on this day, the Turkish people displayed their characteristic resilience and gallantry to defy those who wanted to target Turkey’s peace and stability as well as its democratic institutions. It was also the day when the entire Pakistani nation spoke with one voice against the attempt to undermine Turkey’s democracy and progress towards prosperity.

Today the people of Pakistan join the people of Turkey in honouring the martyrs and supporting their families.  

The historic, fraternal and multi-dimensional relations between Pakistan and Turkey are without parallel and have withstood the test of time. The people and the Government of Pakistan reiterate their strong support for the Government and the people of Turkey in their quest for national security, peace and prosperity, and as always, will continue to stand by them towards the achievement of these shared goals

Our prayers and best wishes are with you and the people of Turkey in your march towards peace and prosperity, and ever greater glory.

Turkish Land Forces Commander calls on Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan

General Umit DUNDAR, Commander Turkish Land Forces called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at GHQ, Rawalpindi on 5th July 2021. 

During the meeting, matters of mutual and professional interest with special emphasis on defence and security collaboration between the two brotherly countries were discussed. COAS said that we highly value our brotherly relations with Turkey which are deeply rooted in history and entrenched in our cultural and religious affinities. Both sides agreed to further optimize military to military ties particularly in training and counter-terrorism domains. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army's role for regional peace and stability and contributions towards defeating terrorism. 

Earlier on arrival, Commander Turkish Land Forces was also presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out military contingent.

President of Pakistan confers Pakistan's highest military award upon commander of the Turkish Land Forces

President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) award on Commander of Turkish Land Forces General Umit Dundar at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on 5th July 2021.

The conferment was made at a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr to recognize of the meritorious services of General Umit Dundar in strengthening of Pakistan-Turkish ties. Started with national anthem and recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the ceremony was attended by First Lady Samina Alvi, senior officials of the armed forces and Turkish Ambassador in Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul. 

As per the citation read out at the ceremony, General Umit Dundar graduated from the Army War College in 1985, from Royal Army Staff College (United Kingdom) in 1991, and from the Armed Forces College in 1994. He served as the Chief of Construction, Real Estate and NATO Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of National Defense from 2001 to 2004 and as the Commander of 28th Mechanized Infantry Brigade from 2004 to 2005. During this period he also served as the Commander of the Multinational Brigade in Afghanistan. He was promoted to the rank of major general in 2005, lieutenant general in 2009 and general in 2013. He served as the Commander of the 3rd Army for two years and subsequently he served as the Commander of the 1st Army. He served as the Acting Chief of the General Staff for a brief period in 2016. General Ümit Dündar served as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff from 2016 to 2018. He was appointed as the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces by the Turkish President in July 2018. The ceremony was told that General Ümit Dündar was a sincere and close friend of Pakistan who played role in strengthening of Pakistan-Turkish ties.

Update on revised quarantine regulations of Turkey for passengers coming from Pakistan

 

ANKARA, 29 June 2021: Regarding the revised policy measures announced on 28th June by the Turkish government, we have obtained some additional information which is shared for incoming Pakistani travelers to Turkey: 

1. Owing to limited capacity at the quarantine centres, the Turkish authorities at the airport may ask some incoming passengers to quarantine at private hotels, the cost of which is to be borne by the passengers themselves.

 2. In case the passenger is quarantined at a government facility, there will be no financial implication on the passenger. 

3.According to the latest Interior Ministry circular, dated 28.06.2021: All passengers arriving from Pakistan and Afghanistan, regardless of their vaccination or recovery status, must acquire a negative PCR test result within the last 72 hours to their boarding time and enter a 10-day quarantine. They will be tested on the 7th day and the quarantine will end if the result is negative. In case they test positive, then decision will be taken by the authorities as per the COVID-19 guidelines in Turkey as regulated by the Ministry of Health. 

All Pakistani passengers are requested to use the above-mentioned information appropriately and plan their travel accordingly.

Revised quarantine regulations of Turkey for passengers coming from Pakistan

ANKARA, 28 June 2021: The Turkish authorities have today issued revised policy regarding the mandatory quarantine requirement on passengers arriving in Turkey. 

As per the new policy, which will go into effect on 1st July 2021, the quarantine period for passengers arriving from Pakistan and Afghanistan has been reduced from 14 to 10 days. Meanwhile, the arriving passengers, who have been in Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days, will continue to observe the mandatory 14-day quarantine period upon arrival in Turkey. 

 The Turkish authorities have also informed that additional details on quarantine arrangements including options for passengers from Pakistan will be issued soon. 

 Ever since the quarantine requirements were first issued for passengers from Pakistan on 1st June 2021, the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara has remained in touch with the relevant Turkish authorities and continues to share details of the improving COVID-19 situation in Pakistan as a result of the policies adopted by the Government of Pakistan. Based on the scientific data, the Turkish authorities have been requested to revisit the policy of mandatory quarantine requirement for passengers arriving from Pakistan. The Embassy of Pakistan will continue to remain engaged with the Turkish authorities on the matter. 

Passengers traveling from Pakistan to Turkey are kindly advised to review their travel plans in the light of revised regulations.

Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan on a day long visit to meet Turkey's top defence leadership

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on a day long official visit to the Republic of Turkey called on His Excellency General Hulusi Akar (Retired), Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, wherein His Excellency General Yasar Guler, Commander Turkish General Staff and His Excellency General Umit Dundar, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces were also present.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interests, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process and bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields were discussed. COAS acknowledged the Turkish engagements with Pakistan especially the ongoing efforts for continuing the positivity for peace in the region. He also reiterated that Turkey is one of the key Muslim countries in the region and that enhanced Pakistan-Turkey cooperation will have positive impact on regional peace and stability.

The dignitaries appreciated Pakistan's positive role for regional peace and stability, especially the Afghan peace process and pledged to continue working for better relations between two brotherly countries. Earlier on arrival, COAS was also presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out military contingent.

Bilateral Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan and Foreign Minister of Turkey, 20 June 2021

Pakistan Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 20 June 2021 in Antalya.

Foreign Minister Qureshi congratulated his Turkish counterpart on successfully organising Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which saw high-level attendance of global leaders. He noted that the Forum provided an excellent opportunity to discuss and to engage on various contemporary global issues.

While taking stock of the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, the two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for the 7th Session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) that will be held in Turkey this year.

The two Foreign Ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the Afghan peace process and the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Qureshi lauded Turkey’s valuable efforts and its outreach to various Afghan parties. Underscoring Pakistan’s abiding interest in a peaceful, secure and stable Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Qureshi illustrated Pakistan’s consistent efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process. He expressed hope that the Afghan parties would seize the opportunity and workout an inclusive politically-negotiated settlement.

It was Foreign Minister Qureshi’s third visit to Turkey in three months upon the invitation of Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu. The frequency of high-level interaction between the two sides reflects the strength of the bilateral relationship.

Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan with H.E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani, President of Kosovo and H.E Ms. Donika Gervalla, Second-Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, 19 June 2021

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on the President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani on the side-lines of Antalya Diplomacy Forum on 19 June 2021 in Antalya, Turkey. The Second-Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Ms. Donika Gervalla, was also present in the meeting.

Foreign Minister Qureshi conveyed his heartfelt felicitations and warm wishes, on behalf of the Government as well as the people of Pakistan, to the newly elected leadership of Kosovo and expressed that the Government of Pakistan looked forward to working closely to further strengthen the bilateral relations.

President Osmani thanked the people and the Government of Pakistan for their warm sentiments and for consistent support for the people of Kosovo after their declaration of independence and at various multilateral fora.

Foreign Minister Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s support for all efforts aimed towards peace and stability in the Balkans. Views were also exchanged on issues of regional and international importance during the meeting.

Foreign Minister holds bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister of Iran

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), Turkey, on 19 June 2021.

Foreign Minister Qureshi congratulated Foreign Minister Zarif on the successful conclusion of Presidential elections in Iran and extended best wishes to government and people of Iran.

The two Foreign Ministers reviewed the entire range of bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation.

The two Foreign Ministers noted the positive trajectory in bilateral relations in various areas in the last few years. Foreign Minister Qureshi recalled the signing of an MOU on border sustenance markets and opening of additional border crossing points, which would further strengthen people to people linkages and improve livelihood in the border regions.

Both Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on the latest status of the Afghan peace process. Highlighting Pakistan’s abiding interest in a peaceful, secure and stable Afghanistan, the Foreign Minister underscored Pakistan’s consistent efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process. He expressed the hope that the Afghan parties would realize the opportunity and workout an inclusive politically negotiated settlement.

This was the third meeting between the two Foreign Ministers in the past few months. Earlier Foreign Minister Qureshi had paid an official visit to Iran in April 2021.
